Unarmed Construction Security Officer

Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Shift: 8 Hours Shifts - Days / Nights

We are seeking a dedicated Unarmed Construction Security Guard to provide comprehensive security services for an active construction site. This position involves access control management, perimeter monitoring, and 24/7 site protection through gate duties and patrol activities. The successful candidate will ensure site security by controlling access, maintaining vigilance against unauthorized activities, and enforcing established security protocols.

The Unarmed Construction Security Officer will be responsible for the following:

Gate Guard Duties

1. Monitor and control primary access point to construction site during operational hours
2. Verify identification of all personnel, visitors, and contractors against approved access lists
3. Validate vehicle access permissions for authorized companies and individuals
4. Operate movable traffic barriers to control ingress and egress
5. Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic to appropriate entry points for validation
6. Maintain accurate logs of all site entries and exits

Access Control Management

1. Enforce strict access control protocols at primary and alternative entry points
2. Collaborate with General Contractor to maintain current electronic access lists
3. Conduct manual ID verification against government-issued identification
4. Operate technical security systems as required
5. Ensure only authorized personnel enter construction areas
6. Staff alternative access points when required for deliveries or equipment movement

24/7 Patrol Operations

1. Conduct regular perimeter patrols during non-construction hours
2. Closely monitor and maintain access control on interior construction areas
3. Perform randomized site inspections to detect unauthorized activity
4. Document and report any security incidents or safety concerns
5. Respond to alarms and emergency situations according to established protocols

Administrative Duties

1. Complete detailed shift reports and incident documentation
2. Coordinate with General Contractor on access list updates
3. Follow established "post orders" and security procedures
4. Communicate effectively with construction personnel and management
5. Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times

Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Previous security experience preferred, construction site experience a plus
3. Valid security guard license as required by state/local regulations
4. Clean background check and drug screening
5. U.S. Citizenship

Skills and Abilities

1. Strong attention to detail and observational skills
2. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
3. Proficiency with electronic access control systems
4. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
5. Physical capability to conduct walking patrols and stand for extended periods
6. Basic computer skills for maintaining electronic access lists
7. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and periodic random drug screening.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to bend at the waist, knees, and waist.
2. Must have the physical ability to perform a variety of training functions.
3. Ability to walk on uneven surfaces, walk long distances on a training facility, and operate equipment.
4. Must be physically capable of standing a 12-hour post.
5. Capability to walk/patrol construction site perimeters
6. Visual acuity sufficient for ID verification and site monitoring
7. Physical stamina for extended periods of standing and walking

Working Conditions

1. Nights, weekends, and holidays
2. Outdoor work environment at active construction site
3. Exposure to construction noise, dust, and varying weather conditions
4. Must work independently with no on-site supervision or backup
