Job Description

Staff Accountant

An organized and detail-oriented accountant with a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of general accounting experience, preferably with exposure to homebuilding or construction accounting.

Support accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, revenue recognition, month-end close, journal entries, and special project analysis while adhering to corporate policies.

On-site at the office location; in-person five days a week.

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant will manage general ledger accounting, monthly close processes, reconciliations, revenue recognition, and reporting for a leading homebuilding company. This role ensures accuracy of financial records, supports special projects, and provides analytical insights to improve operational and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with month-end close processes and journal entries
  • Maintain accounting systems and adhere to corporate policies
  • Prepare bank account and general ledger reconciliations
  • Oversee suspense account reconciliation and wire transfers
  • Prepare monthly revenue entries, accruals, reclassifications, and allocation entries
  • Support ESSBASE system reporting to track overhead expenses and compare to budgets and forecasts
  • Run monthly fixed asset reports as required
  • Prepare commission packages for review
  • Support accounts payable activities
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • JD Edwards experience preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
