Job Title: Road Crew Laborer

Overview: Suit-Kote Corporation, a leading Asphalt products manufacturer, road construction and maintenance and asphalt application engineering company is seeking candidates for Heavy Highway Laborers.

Safety Expectations: All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to always observe safe work practices and operating procedures. Whenever on Suit-Kote property, at a customer facility, or operating Suit-Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.

Responsibilities/Job Duties:

• Have the ability and willingness to dig, spread and level construction materials with a shovel
• Work with others to help complete tasks in a timely manner
• Varying types of work including: shoveling, flagging, conducting traffic.
• Basic troubleshooting
• Work in all types of weather conditions

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Able to work efficiently and independently
• Exhibit strong customer service skills and willingness to work in a team environment

• Strong work ethic

• Must be able to communicate with co-workers and supervisors
• Physical Organization and time management
• Flexibility in hours - overtime and weekend hours may be necessary
• Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conducted
• Must have or be willing to complete ATSSA flagging course
• Working knowledge of general hand tools and power tools
• Must have or be willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certificate

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Observe and comply with necessary PPE requirements

• Must be able to work in a noisy area with many odors present
• Physically able to open and/or close dome lids on trailers; hook and/or unhook trailers from truck; climb ladder to check holding tank, and handle hoses associated with this position
• Bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling and squatting

Other Preferred Qualities:

• Commercial Drivers License a plus
• Ability to read and understand SDS (Safety Data Sheets)
• Hazmat endorsement a plus or willingness to obtain one.

Position is considered full time, but seasonal in nature, with anticipated lay-off in the November thru March timeframe. Site specific locations may have varying seasonal requirements that can extend or contract these timeframes.

Salary Rate : $23-$29/hour
