Job Description

Description:

Miami Children’s Museum is seeking a warm, creative, and dedicated Museum VPK Teacher to join our Early Childhood Institute! This is a unique opportunity to teach in an innovative, museum-based learning environment where curiosity, play, and child-led discovery guide the day.

If you’re passionate about early childhood education, love hands-on projects, and thrive in a playful, Reggio-inspired setting — this is your next home!

What You'll Do

  • Lead a classroom of 3–5-year-old children with intention, compassion, and creativity.
  • Ensure children’s safety, wellbeing, and comfort throughout the day — including assisting with personal care when needed.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, Reggio Emilia-aligned lesson plans that encourage exploration, investigation, and self-expression.
  • Use museum exhibits and materials to bring learning to life through hands-on, project-based activities.
  • Create daily schedules balancing active/quiet and child-led/teacher-led moments.
  • Observe child development, document progress, and communicate with families using tools such as Ages & Stages (ASQ/ASQ-SE).
  • Prepare students for FAST STAR Early Literacy Assessments.
  • Foster language development through stories, music, drama, and conversation.
  • Support social-emotional growth through positive guidance and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with your team and participate in ongoing professional development (minimum 30 in-service hours).
  • Represent the values and philosophy of the Early Childhood Institute and Miami Children’s Museum.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of related early childhood experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Museum Studies, or related field (preferred)
  • Completion of DCF 45-hour training
  • VPK Instructor Emergent Literacy Course
  • Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and families

If you’re ready to inspire and be inspired, apply now and join our team!
