Job Description

Department: Engineering Location: Pinellas Park, FL Duration: Summer Internship (May-August, flexible based on school schedule) Position Summary CME is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support engineering projects and gain hands‑on experience in a professional environment. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to real‑world projects, and develop practical technical skills. Key Responsibilities Assist with design, development, and evaluation of mechanical systems and components Support troubleshooting and problem‑solving for mechanical issues Participate in engineering projects, including research, analysis, and documentation Help prepare technical drawings, reports, and documentation Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support project goals Perform general engineering support tasks as needed Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Basic understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and engineering principles Hands‑on lab, academic project, or internship experience preferred Strong problem‑solving and analytical skillsEffective communication and ability to work in a team environment What You'll Gain Practical, hands‑on experience in a professional engineering environment Exposure to real‑world engineering projects and challenges Opportunity to develop technical and problem‑solving skills Mentorship and collaboration with experienced engineers Compensation & Schedule Hourly rate based on academic year: Freshman: $16.00/hour Sophomore: $17.00/hour Junior: $18.00/hour Senior: $19.00/hour Full‑time summer internship (10‑12 weeks, ~40 hours/week) Opportunity for future full‑time employment based on performance Eligibility Requirements Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university Pursuing a degree in a relevant field Strong communication and teamwork skills Other Requirements CME positions require access to controlled goods under ITAR/EAR regulations; applicants must be "U.S. Persons" as defined by these regulations Compliance with U.S. federal law requires verification of identity and work eligibility; CME cannot employ individuals who do not meet these criteria, including those on student or temporary work visas Completion of Predictive Index Assessments About CME Custom Manufacturing & Engineering, Inc.
