Job Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Manager for the Futures division of our Safeguards & Security directorate. This position would support a team that works site-wide. This Manager is responsible for leading two critical areas that ensure the protection of assets at Idaho National Laboratory (INL). This role provides strategic direction, oversees daily operations, ensures protection of assets, and guides teams across multiple INL facilities. This position will work on a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.


Key Responsibilities

Physical Security Program Oversight

-Partner with facility operations and special project leadership to integrate security requirements into planning and execution, ensuring alignment with strategic safeguards and security objectives.
- Lead the Physical Security function that ensures security requirements are implemented across INL facilities.
- Oversee Physical Security Officers (PSOs), who serve as the primary point of contact for facility security questions and concerns.
- Ensure physical protection systems are executed in alignment security strategies.
- Coordinate on physical security development and strategy reviews.

Vulnerability and Security Risk Analysis Oversight

- Lead and supervise individuals responsible for conducting detailed vulnerability and risk analysis of security systems, facilities, protective force, critical assets, and special projects.
- Oversee the evaluation of threat scenarios, adversary pathways, detection, delay effectiveness, and overall system performance are reported to INL Leadership and DOE-ID in accordance with local threat policy and program office direction.
- Ensure Special Nuclear Material (SNM) security measures are risk-informed, aligned with approved protection strategies and supported modeling, simulation, and performance testing to validate system effectiveness.

Strategic Leadership & Integration

- Provide unified leadership to ensure consistent implementation of security strategies and evolving threat/technology needs.
- Partner with Safeguards & Security leadership, mission organizations, and external entities to ensure integrated risk management.
- Support configuration, change management, and modernization of security processes and systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities

- Direct and develop a multidisciplinary team of analysts and technical specialists.
- Oversee staffing, performance expectations, training progression, and professional development.
- Set workload priorities, maintain quality and compliance standards, support safety, conduct of operations, and security culture expectations.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant experience with 5 years of proven leadership experience OR a HS Diploma and 15 years of experience including 5 years of leadership.
Relevant experience includes: Understanding/experience with DOE Physical Security requirements, facility operations, alarm/security systems, SNM protection requirements, DC/classification qualifications, and Risk assessments/analysis.

DOE Q clearance required (or the ability to obtain and maintain) which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information :

The target pay range for this position is ($158,712- $237,174) annually. The full pay range is ($107,844 - $274,980). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Physical Requirements :

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required.
