About the Role

We are on the lookout for a dynamic Director of Web Engineering to guide our Global Web Engineering team responsible for Genesys.com. This role requires a technical leader with a deep understanding of corporate web development combined with enterprise-level platform management and a passion for providing high-performance digital experiences. You will have the chance to modernize our web platform, implement cutting-edge technologies, and lead a high-impact team that supports our demand generation, branding, and customer experience strategy.

What You'll Do

• Technical Architecture & Platform Leadership
  • Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for the Genesys web stack, including AI-driven capabilities.
  • Own the enterprise WordPress architecture, covering custom themes, plugins, integrations, and reusable components.
  • Lead modernization initiatives, including WordPress upgrades and technical debt reduction.
  • Evaluate and implement decoupled WordPress architectures where applicable.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards for quality, accessibility, performance, and maintainability.
• Infrastructure, Hosting & DevOps
  • Oversee hosting environments and deployment pipelines.
  • Define environment strategy and ensure reliable CI/CD workflows.
  • Manage caching layers, CDN configuration, and uptime optimization.
  • Ensure disaster recovery planning, automated backups, and operational reliability.
• Security, Compliance & Governance
  • Own platform security, managing vulnerabilities and incident response.
  • Enforce secure coding standards and access controls.
  • Support audits, penetration testing, and compliance initiatives.
  • Manage third-party plugins and integrations with strong security governance.
• Performance, SEO & Digital Quality
  • Drive improvements in site performance metrics.
  • Establish strong technical SEO foundations.
  • Lead UAT processes to ensure high-quality releases.
  • Proactively monitor performance metrics and resolve issues.
• Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a global team of engineers and web professionals.
  • Partner closely with various teams across the organization.
  • Manage external agencies, contractors, and vendors effectively.
  • Translate complex technical concepts for executive stakeholders.

What You Bring

• 12+ years of web development experience; 5+ years in a leadership role.
• 10+ years of hands-on WordPress development (themes, plugins, enterprise implementations).
• Strong expertise in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, APIs, and web architectures.
• Experience with high-traffic WordPress platforms.
• Knowledge of hosting environments, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in performance optimization and technical SEO.
• Demonstrated experience leading global teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms or enterprise WordPress hosting.
• Familiarity with containerization or infrastructure-as-code.
• Background in B2B, SaaS, or complex digital environments.

Compensation:

This role offers a competitive salary range of $164,900.00 - $290,100.00, influenced by the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills.
