Job Title: Research Associate Scientist
Monday thru Friday 8am-4:30pm

This position is in the Protein Biology R&D, part of the BID organization of Thermo fisher Scientific, located in Rockford, IL. As a Research Associate Scientist you will be performing laboratory experiments for protein preparation reagent development and applications. As a technical resource, you will work closely with the Protein Prep team to develop assays to assess product performance, test prototype products, and make recommendations for improving product concepts.


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
• BS/BA/MS in Biochemistry, Biology, or other Biological Science
• Laboratory experience preferably includes protein assays, cell culture, protein expression & purification, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, protein sample preparation (protein extraction, chromatography, dialysis, ultrafiltration, centrifugation, etc.), and instrumentation (UV/Vis, plate reader, FPLC)
• Effective oral and written communication skills, with an ability to express thoughts, describe experimental results, and exchange information in a group setting
• Well-organized, goal-driven attitude, meets deadlines
• Strong attention to detail, ability to thoroughly document results
• Precise experimental technique
• Quick learner, ability to adapt to different methods and procedures
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute ideas in a team atmosphere
