Accountant 1

The Accountant 1 position plays a key role in managing contracts and grants by analyzing and establishing purchase orders, handling encumbrances, and preparing financial reports. Additionally, this role involves supporting year-end closing activities to meet crucial deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and manage encumbrances for contracts and grants, including adjustments and liquidations.
• Analyze encumbrances and generate special reports related to contracts and grants.
• Review and approve requisitions and purchase orders for commodity-based purchases.
• Provide customer support regarding purchase order information and procedures.
• Assist with fiscal year-end closing tasks, ensuring timely approvals for requisitions, purchase orders, and payment cards.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution, OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 36 quarter hours in Accounting, OR
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation ( Transcript required for evaluation ).

Work Environment:

• On-site position with the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid schedule at a later date.
